small things

Hey everyone, I just had a couple of things I wanted to comment on.

First, observe this plate of pasta. That is a well-made plate of pasta with well-made tomato sauce, all fresh ingredients freshly cooked by yours truly. Sorry, I just have to celebrate my small accomplishments.
Someone asked me about food in London. It's not bad! British food really reminds me a lot of Midwestern food, in that its mostly all about some kind of meat with some kind of potato and then some bizarre regional bread thing that no one else understands. Flavored principally with salt. Also, if you go to a place that serves curry, like an Indian or Thai restaurant or whatever, rice doesn't come with it, you have to order it separately. I did not know this the first time I had Indian here and declined ordering rice from the waiter (assuming he was asking me if I wanted extra rice) and then ended up with straight curry in a bowl. Oh well, it was still good.
Mostly now, to save money, I eat these Marks & Spencer premade meal things, sort of like Lean Cuisine or whatever. They're interestingly priced, where all are under 4 pounds, but British food is the cheapest, then Italian, then Indian is the most expensive. For lunch I always just have a sandwich and an apple and some water.

Second thing: this NY Times article I saw

I found it interesting, mostly because I've seen this in every one of the 10 or so museums I've been in here. I think of myself as more of a quiet observer who will stare at something for a long time, but I sometimes will do a quick scan of a gallery since I usually am trying to cover a lot of ground in a little time.
It doesn't mention the strangest people at museums these days though: the ones with video cameras, who walk around the galleries while quietly narrating what they're looking at. I've seen people do it in several languages now, and I must admit it perplexes me.
